Interese, mi ĵus ricevis mesaĝon de Betty Chatterjee, kiu respondis al la sugesto pri tio, ke Esperanto estu la unua fremdlingvo en usonaj skoloj. Ŝajnas, ke skeptikulo, nomita Tom Hicks, kredis ke esperantistoj tra la tuta mondo deziras unuigitan mondon -- t.e. unu lingvon, unu religion, unu registaron. Li nomas tiun ideon "Nova Monda Ordo" (koncepto, kiun ege ŝatas eks-prezidento Bush kaj lia patro).
Kaj Betty kaj mi trankviligis tiun skeptikulon, ĉar ni bone scias ke la esperantista movado tute ne deziras tian aferon. Esperanto kiel ponto ... tio ŝajnas al mi pli realeca.

Interestingly, I've just received a message from Betty Chatterjee, who had replied to the suggestion that Esperanto should be the first foreign language in US schools. It seems that a sceptical Tom Hicks was under the impression that Esperantists worldwide desired a united world -- i.e. one language, one religion, one government. He used the phrase "New World Order" (a concept dear to the hearts of ex-president Bush and his dad).
Both Betty and I reassured Mr Hicks, because we well know that the Esperanto movement absolutely does NOT want that kind of thing. Esperanto as a bridge ... that seems to me to be much more realistic.

La mesaĝo de Tom estis unu el la plej gajaj okazaĵoj hodiaŭ! Ankaŭ tre agrable estas, ke vi jam blogas pri tiu. Iam mi ankaŭ estis skeptema pri Esperanto. Ŝajnas al mi, ke oni ofte skeptemas pri malkomplikaj solvoj por komplikaj problemoj.
ReplyDeleteTom's message was one of the most cheerful occurences today. It's also very pleasant, that you have written about it in your blog. I was once upon a time also sceptical about Esperanto. It seems to me that we are often sceptical about simple solutions to complicated problems.
